Books and People #2 : On Pretensions, misleading blurbs & acceptance

Every time the blurb misleads me, I get annoyed. Why do they want to fool someone or assure people about what they will get inside which they might not? Same happens with people. With so many parameters set on acceptance, it is hard to get accepted by everyone around. We are who we are. There is no other way. Wait, there is. You can pretend. I think the reasons we do this are:
1. To feel accepted
2. To be one of them
3. To impress someone
& so on.
The list is long, we all know our reasons. So, I wish people would come with a trailer. But again, that will only highlight the good part, or like some blurbs, misleading one.

If you think about it, It is the fear of acceptance ( or rejection?). The book needs approval and celebration like other books. Like us. The people behind books are... well, the people. So, they do what they can do. They pretend. Blurbs are no reviews. But reviews can be fake too! I go with my guts these days, in both the cases, books and people.
This, I am talking from the experiences I had. ( Not generalising). I have bought some superb books by only reading blurbs. But well, there are always exceptions. In the case of books, your money and time get wasted. In people’s case, it’s your emotional well being, your selfless affection and sometimes the peace of mind too. The fake blurbs make you angry, and the fake people take away your ability to trust.
In the end, it matters what is inside. Sooner or later, the person will know what the book is about or what the person is like. The pretending will help only to pursue them in the start, it won't last. It shouldn’t. Pretensions lead to betrayals & they are bad. Really bad. I believe, pretending to hate is better than pretending to love. The former one will cause damage, but the later will make the person unable to trust and love again. Think about it.
