Highway with green apples 🍏

The book and the song I selected complement each other well, sharing a similar vibe despite differing contexts. The story raises numerous questions, but ultimately concludes with a sense of unresolved mystery, much like the word "Kyon" (Why?).

I’ve read about 75% of the book, yet I struggled to follow the narrative. It became increasingly confusing, with unclear character identities and disjointed themes, making it difficult to track the plot.

Initially, the book held a promise. I thought that it would explore the life of a narrator discontented with her circumstances, searching for answers to her "why me". Her difficult childhood and uneventful adulthood leave her feeling detached, even on her 25th birthday.

However, as the story progressed, it shifted between the present and past memories, which, while a common narrative technique, was not executed clearly. This constant shift made me lose interest and I could not concentrate.

Though the book is only 54 pages long, I found it hard to complete. For these reasons, I cannot recommend it.
